The Summerstrand Community Policing Forum (CPF) has welcomed a donation of decals and pepper spray saying that it will assist in its fight against crime in the area.
Annelize Jerling, a member of the Summerstrand CPF Executive Committee, said that the items were sponsored by ADT Security and that the decals in particular would be used on their resident patrol vehicles increasing their visibility, especially at night.
“We have been working with ADT for quite some time in our various sectors. Recently, the 10111 emergency number was down in the Port Elizabeth area. During this time, the CPF and ADT relayed any requests for the dispatch of the South African Police Service (SAPS) to me and I would contact the Humewood charge office and request a vehicle. This saw them responding to scenes within minutes. These successes can be attributed to the very good working relationship that currently exists between Humewood SAPS, the CPF and ADT.”
Ryan Britz, Acting Manager of ADT Security’s Port Elizabeth Branch, shared Jerling’s sentiments:
“We greatly value and support on-going partnerships and co-operation between private security companies, other law enforcement agencies and community safety organisations as they can yield positive results in efforts to curb crime.”
