A Transnet train engine derailed close to the Port Elizabeth main station on the morning of 26 June 2014 between 11h10 and 11h30.
Fortunately there was no passengers on the train at the time of the accident. The driver and his co-driver only sustained minor injuries.
The cause of the derailment is unknown at the moment.
In a seperate incident, a Fire truck on the way to the derailed train, overturned in Sidon Street area – 3 injured were admitted to hospital.
