Port Elizabeth – Ghana international Fatau Dauda has terminated his contract with Chippa United after only two months at the newly promoted NFD champions.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper joined the Chilli Boys ahead of transfer deadline day following a frustrating spell at Orlando Pirates, where he was second choice behind Senzo Meyiwa.
His stay at the troubled Port Elizabeth-based club has been short-lived though, as confirmed by Chippa team manager Peter Koutroulis.
“Yes, the player has cancelled his contract with us and is no longer here,” Koutroulis told KickOff.
“At the moment I can’t reveal details of his release but he has left us.”
It is being reported that the Ghana international left the club because of money owed to him from his transfer from Pirates.
Chippa occupy ninth position on log with seven points from six matches and ironically face the Sea Robbers in their next Absa Premiership encounter.
In head-to-head stats, Chippa and Pirates have met in just two previous league matches.
Both of those encounters took place in the 2012/13 season. The Chilli Boys claimed four points, drawing 0-0 in Cape Town before a 1-0 win in the return match in Soweto.
Kick-off is set for 15:00 on Saturday, September 27 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
