The Propella Business Incubator will be focusing on start-ups for social entrepreneurs.
Discussing the business opportunities that lie in meeting social problems will be Craig Rivett of Happimo.
He will be sharing lessons from working with the public sector to introduce technology to make the lives of citizens live better on Thursday, March 17 from 5pm until 7pm.
Propella Business Incubator is situated in Humerail Port Elizabeth.
What attendees to this networking session can look forward to is finding out what Rivett learnt “being employee number one at Project Isizwe, which is a Non-Governmental Organisation that grew to Africa’s largest government funded free WiFi network within two and a half years. This project has connected over 1.5 million users in poor communities over 70 million times to date” says Rivett”.
He says his presentation deals with both the good and bad – he will share the mistakes that were made the lessons learned.
“One of the key lessons is how to handle culture and speed clashes when working with government (or large institutions)” says Rivett.
He obtained a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Cape Town in 2011, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics (Honours with distinction) from Rhodes University, Grahamstown in 2010.
Rivett is the CEO of Happimo which is a non-profit organisation which connects entrepreneurs and government to provide information technology solutions to enrich the lives of citizens.
