PORT ELIZABETH – A police officer has explained how Jayde Panayiotou’s body was located outside Uitenhage a day after she went missing.
Christopher Panayiotou is accused of hiring men to kill his wife in April last year.
The 30-year-old businessman and two others are standing trial in Port Elizabeth High Court.
Warrant officer Paul Franks is a member of the K-9 unit that searched for Jayde for two days after she went missing.
He tells the court the search was suspended on the day she went missing once it became too dark.
Franks says they found the teacher’s body in a bushy area adjacent to a gravel road near Kwanobuhle the following day.
There were gasps and soft cries in court when a crime scene photograph of Panayiotou’s body is shown.
The deceased’s mother, Michelle Inggs, rushed out of court in tears.
