Ian Gray, NSRI Port Elizabeth station commander, said; “At 09h30, Saturday, 15th November, NSRI Port Elizabeth duty crew launched our sea rescue craft SPIRIT OF TOFT to patient evacuate a local 24 year old fisherman, suffering chest pains, on the IJ Stern Fishing Trawler BLUE BELL off-shore of the Port of Port Elizabeth.
“The patient has been brought to shore aboard our sea rescue craft in a stable condition (walking wounded) and transported to hospital by their ships agent for further treatment.”
“At 13h56, Saturday, 15th November, NSRI Port Elizabeth duty crew were placed on alert by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) following reports of 23 containers fallen off the ship SEROYA LIMA at anchor in Algoa Bay off-shore of Port Elizabeth.
“Arrangements are being made by Port Authorities to deal with the containers.”
