Hosted by the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) and presented by Zports, the Nelson Mandela Bay Urban Run is a unique Charity obstacle fun run of approximately 10km’s (3km for the kids) through the streets of Port Elizabeth with exciting urban obstacles. The main aim is to bring the public to the city’s urban spaces while raising money for charity. With the 2013 Urban Run raising over R230 000, this year’s fundraising goal is R250 000.
Just over two weeks to go to an event like no other, the Urban Run 2014. Being held for the fourth time in the Port Elizabeth CBD, the event promises to be a spectacular in its kind.
The Urban Run 2014 will be held on the weekend of 20 to 21 September, with the kids Urban Run taking place on Saturday. The kids run is for children under the age of 16 and covers a distance of approximately 3km’s. This year’s race focuses on those individuals with life threatening illnesses, selected beneficiaries are the Eastern Cape branch of the Chesire Homes, and the local Reach for a Dream foundation.
The event relies on a great sense of team spirit and camaraderie. The winners of the event are the charities and those individuals who personally raise the most amount for charity. Participants will be incentivized to raise as much money as possible for the mentioned charities.
With entries streaming in, this is fast becoming one of PE’s largest charity sports events. Be sure not to miss the Urban Run.
