The Coega Development Corporation (CDC) will embark on stakeholder road shows geared to “Inform and Empower Communities” in the Nelson Mandela Bay region during September and October.
The outreach aims to inform residents about the benefits offered by the organisation such as job and training opportunities, and corporate social investment initiatives. The meetings will also focus on updating the public about the growing investments and developments at the CDC and Coega IDZ.
“These road shows form part of CDC’s stakeholder engagement plan meant to profile the CDC, its respective services and the benefits of services to local and provincial communities,” said Ayanda Vilakazi, CDC head of marketing and communications.
“The CDC’s vision is to become the leading catalyst for socio-economic growth in South Africa and, given the CDC’s proximity to Nelson Mandela Bay communities in particular, this means that action has to first start at home, and these communities must become an integral part of turning the vision into reality. Part of ensuring this is more frequent interaction with the communities,” added Vilakazi, saying the CDC was on a mission to engage people throughout the province and South Africa.
The road shows (all starting at 5:30 pm) will be held at:
- NMMU Missionvale Campus Indoor Sports Centre – 11 September,
- Gelvandale Community Centre – 16 September,
- Nangoza Jebe Hall – 17 September 17 and the
- Port Elizabeth Opera House – 18 September.
