The Siya crew can confirm that PSL returnees, Chippa United, will play Kaizer Chiefs in Port Elizabeth.
As previously reported by the crew in the past two weeks, the Chilli Boys have now relocated to Eastern Cape’s Windy City, and the crew has now learnt that the two clubs will play in the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. The match will be used to officially unveil and confirm the move to PE by the club.
Although the club has already left Cape Town, the crew is informed that the municipality will make an official announcement next week Monday.
Speaking to one of the SABC (Umhlobo Wenene FM) national radio stations, the club’s chairman, Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi, confirmed the move to PE.
“I’ve been here for the past three days and I’m glad to be back at home. Yes, the deal is sealed and confirmed although the municipality will officially announce on Monday. We’ll play Amakhosi next Saturday, July 19. They’ll be arriving today for their pre-season camp in PE. I want to thank the municipality and the Mayor for welcoming and supporting us,” said Mpengesi.
The crew is also informed that the club will hold a press briefing on Wednesday to announce the new players and technical team changes in the club.
However, the crew made strides to source a comment from the chairman, Mpengesi and the club’s Chief Operations Officer, Thabiso ‘Shooz’ Mekuto, but their mobile phones rang unanswered.
The crew will keep you informed with developments surrounding the Chilli Boys.
