Following the successful opening of the Summer Season held at Hobie Beach on December 16, the beat goes on. As part of the Summer Season events, the Phola Festival, which was scheduled to be held at the Red Location Museum, has since been changed to a “Chill Festival”, which will now be held on the same date, 18 December 2013, at Varsvlei in the Northern Areas.
The change of venue has been necessitated by the commitment of the municipal leadership to give space and respect to the continuous engagements going on between the Municipality and residents of the Red Location. The engagements are meant to deal with the service delivery related issues raised by the Red Location community.
The Chill Festival will run from 14h00 – 22h00 and will feature Idols South Africa finalists, BRENDEN and CHRISTINA, and a host of top talent from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.Members of the public are encouraged to bring picnic baskets and enjoy a family day of fun in the sun.Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor, Benson Fihla, has appealed to people to be safe and responsible during the festive season and in all the city’s Summer Season events. The South African Police Service, municipal traffic officers and safety and security officers will be deployed to manage traffic and maintain peace and safety. Entrance to the event is free.
