Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyabulela Songwiqi – who is on loan on Santos – has no idea where he will be playing next season.
The former Bay United player signed with Chiefs in 2010, but saw little action with the Glamour Boys, and ended up going on loan to Santos at the beginning of this season.
Now, with the season about to reach its conclusion, the Port Elizabeth-born midfielder says there has not been any contact from Chiefs’ technical team, although he says if Santos avoid relegation he would prefer to stay in the Cape.
“I haven’t heard anything from the Chiefs technical team yet, however, the only people that have shown faith in me are the Chiefs fans, they’ve been telling me that I shouldn’t give up and work hard,” Songwiqi tells KickOff.com.
“I would like to stay here at Santos, in fact if we do stay up I would like to stay. At this time and age you have to think about your future.
“If they get relegated I would ask to leave the team to move on …”
Songwiqi’s contract with Chiefs expires at the end of June, and it looks very unlikely that the club will extended it or give him a new deal. He has only started nine matches for Santos this season.
