We have received information that the Chemical, Energy, Paper, Printing, Wood and Allied Workers Union (CEPPWAWU) will embark on a nationwide protected strike tomorrow [Thursday, 28 July 2016].
The strike could affect refineries, fuel depots and insourced truck drivers. Petrol stations might also be affected.
The strike is the result of unresolved wage negotiations between industry trade unions and the National Petroleum Employers Association.
Meanwhile Caltex Eastern Cape Marketer said in statement that the company does not anticipate any delivery interruptions from its transporters, as Uzuko Carriers and Crusade Logistics drivers are not affiliated with the same union.
“Chevron have advised us that their refinery and terminals will continue operation during the strike and the other refiners in South Africa have similar plans to continue operations,” Caltex Eastern Cape Marketer said.
We will update our members of any further developments.
