Former Idols runner-up Lloyd Cele will take to the stage at SPAR Women’s Challenge at Pollok Beach in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, 3 May.
Cele said in a press statement: “I can’t wait, it is going to be super awesome.”
The singer will be performing for more than 14 000 runners and walkers as part of the post-race entertainment.
“I am very excited about it and honoured to have the opportunity to perform at the event,” said the Sama winner.
“They can expect a lot of fun, even more energy and great music. Expect to feel special, to feel loved and appreciated as a woman.”
The Make it easy singer added that he was looking forward to performing some of his biggest hits at the PE race as he reserved a special place in his heart for strong and determined women – characteristics his mother, who raised him as a single parent, possesses.
“I look up to my mother and other single moms like her who, despite their struggles, work very hard to give their children a great future without the support of anyone else.”
The singer praised the organisers’ efforts to raise funds for charities like the Association for Persons with Physical Disabilities (APD) in Nelson Mandela Bay.
“If we don’t stand up for our community, nobody will. We cannot count or rely on government or anyone else to better our communities; we must take a stand, support and build our communities ourselves.”
Cele is also currently in studio recording his fourth album.
