A group of 30 students from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University in Quebec, Canada are on a mission to raise $20 000.00 for the Ubuntu Fund here in Port Elizabeth.
Founded in 1906, the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University has been hailed as a top international business school by the Financial Times, BusinessWeek, Le Figaro and America Economia.
One of the students, Dave Fortin, writes: “When we arrive in South Africa, we are not only there to see the sights, but also to learn from leaders in business, government, academia, healthcare and McGill alumni. The trip is a truly holistic approach to learning about a country, covering its economy, culture, politics, history, and its hopes for the future. Yet we are not only going there to take back valuable lessons from South Africa, but also to give back to the society.
“As part of our trip, we have a goal of raising $20,000 for a local charity, the Ubuntu Education Fund. You can help us achieve our goal by visiting us at http://payitforward.mcgill.ca and giving generously to help provide health and educational support to the orphaned and vulnerable children of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, ensuring they can access higher education and employment.”
This group of students are travelling to South Africa to gain firsthand experience on doing business in here. They will visit local as well as multi-national companies based in South Africa and speak to various business leaders. As a part of their ten day trip, they will be visiting Johannesburg, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.
Asof the time of writing these students have already raised $1 652.00 and their 10 day trip in South Africa starts today.
Enjoy your stay in the friendly city of Port Elizabeth and good luck with your goal of raising $20 000 guys and gals.
