Danny Jordaan, the head of the 2010 Local Organizing Committee, is making the link the between the World Cup final falling on the 47th anniversary of the arrest of the Rivonia trialists on July 11 1963.
The accused number one in the Rivonia Trial, Nelson Mandela, emerged from prison after 27 years and went on to become head of state and the leading figure in the securing of the World Cup in 2004.
