A bomb scare at Greenacres Hospital complex this morning was a false alarm, according to police.
Police spokesman, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans said police had responded to an alarm after a suspicious package was noticed in the parking lot of the hospital complex shortly before noon today.
“Members of the bomb squad were deployed and investigated, and determined that it was a false alarm,” he said.
Michelle Botha, who had been unable to get to her car from the parking area for more than hour, posted her experience on Facebook, describing the situation as scary.
She said they had been informed that there was a packet in a car and that the bomb squad were investigating, and said everyone had to go back inside the hospital to wait.
