The Mandela Bay Development Agency today announced the results of it’s annual economic barometer study at their Baakens Street office complex.
During his report back the MBDA CEO, Pierre Voges announced that after first mooting a plan for Bayworld in 2003 the Eastern Cape Provincial government has decided to return Bayworld to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and that the MBDA will be responsible for the building from the date that the signatures are done sealing the deal.
In his address, Executive Mayor Danny Jordaan did note; “Pierre did jump the gun when he talked about Bayworld, because we have not signed the agreement yet, but I am happy to say that there is agreement for us to sign with provincial government who have agreed to hand Bayworld over to the metro.”
The debate on whether to bring the dolphins back or not will now begin.
“Bayworld is the eyesore in the whole Kings Beach Development and we have to fix that too,” said Jordaan.
