Baroka coach Wedson Nyirenda is adamant the Telkom Knockout champions will not get relegated this season.
Bakgaga won their first major trophy by beating Orlando Pirates 3-2 on penalties in the TKO final at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium last weekend.
However, the Limpopo-based outfit are struggling in the Absa Premiership, having only picked up 11 points from 13 games.
“We are not going to be relegated. I am not even afraid of that,” said Nyirenda, whose side held league champs Mamelodi Sundowns to a goalless draw at Lucas Moripe Stadium in midweek.
“If you see the game against Sundowns it is evident that the players have matured.
“After winning that cup final, two days later a team, with an average age of 24, comes and puts out a fight against a formidable and accomplished team like Sundowns.
“It shows we are going somewhere,” concluded the Zambian.
Baroka next host title contenders Bidvest Wits at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday (15h30).
