Bafana Bafana will welcome West African giants, Ivory Coast, to the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit for the annual Nelson Mandela Challenge.
Despite initial reports that Iran was the visiting team to take on Bafana, the crew can now confirm that Les Éléphants are the nation that will play Bafana Bafana in honour of former President and global icon, Nelson Mandela.
“We have spoken to Federation of Ivorian Football (FIF) to release their best players for the occasion,” said South African Football Association (SAFA) Communications Manager, Dominic Chimhavi.
“This match is played in the honour of a great statesman and global leader and I’m sure the players themselves would want to be part of such an illustrious fixture,” he added.
Bafana will play Ivory Coast at Mbombela following SAFA’s decision to move the 2015 CAF African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan from Mbombela to Moses Mabhida Stadium.
