Bloemfontein Celtic striker Lennox Bacela says the side’s Nedbank Cup defeat to Maritzburg United is “water under the bridge,” and that Siwelele will not suffer the same fate on Wednesday.
Phunya Sele Sele’s cup aspirations for the season were brought to an end at the beginning of the month as they crashed to a 2-0 extra-time defeat to the Team of Choice in their last-32 clash at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
The two sides will lock horns once more in the PSL this week, and Bacela warns United not to expect any mercy at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
“(Wednesday’s match) will be a different game altogether. We are ready for United and I’m confident we will win it,” he told the club’s official website.
“The last time we met them they beat us after extra time but there will be no extra time this time around. The result of the match will be determined in 90 minutes.”
Celtic have failed to find the target in their last two outings, leaving the supporters quietly seated on match-day, but Bacela is confident this time round the fans will have plenty to cheer about.
He said: “Despite creating a lot of chances in our previous two matches, we failed to find the back of the net. But I’m positive our supporters will see plenty of goals (on Wednesday).
“As players we don’t plan to miss scoring opportunities, we plan to bury them. I feel that we will convert most of the chances that we are going to create during this match.”
