Port Elizabeth based Autocast South Africa recently relaunched their brand after an extensive restructuring period with the vision of being a sustainable strategic supplier of cast and machined components to a diverse customer base. Their focus will be on quality, delivery, cost and communication ensuring growth aligned with the automotive industry as a whole.
After partnering with core investors, Autocast aims to create a new investment plan which would ultimately lead to job creation in Nelson Mandela Bay specifically, ensuring efficiency in the business and reducing the need for imported products. “We are strategically aligning our business to both the growth of the city as well as the industry as a whole, to gather support from the resources around us and also aim to become a valuable resource to other players and our partners in the industry,” stated Chairman of Autocast South Africa, Gerrit Pretorius.
A strong strategic focus during the transition period was centred on the people within the company and more specifically continuously training people to ensure that Autocast can deliver, optimise resources, process and create multi-functional roles to keep lean and yet remain fully competent. Autocast further outlined the challenges in the industry such as energy costs and the raw material prices as key focus area which need to be managed to minimise risks within the industry. The importance of remaining globally competitive through identifying key opportunities and gaps within the global market as well as staying conscious of the global economy was also stressed by Autocast.
“We plan to double our revenue and we believe we can do so because we have the capacity, competence, capability and the right people. We are in full pursuit of local content/projects with our customers and are looking to engage a technology partner in the near future. Ultimately we need our customers, business partners and stake holders to engage with Autocast fully in order for us to be as effective as possible,” said Bernard Brussow, Executive Director of Autocast.
