The lighting company Aura Light, together with Envirolight, delivers lighting to the metropolitan municipality of Nelson Mandela Bay in South Africa. Aura Light’s Long Life lamps in combination with the Envirolight luminaire were evaluated as the most cost effective and energy efficient technology for the project. The order value is estimated at 2,5 million Euros and gives an energy saving of 10 million Euros over 15 years.
It’s an honor that Aura Light can help make the city safer and more secure while contributing to reduced environmental impact through our cost effective lighting solutions.
The solution consists of compact fluorescent lamps from Aura Light combined with luminaries with patented reflector system from Envirolight. The choice fell on Aura Light’s sustainable lighting, mainly because of the Long Life characteristics of the lamps. The long lifetime means that only a third of the replacements have to be done compared to standard products. This gives the Nelson Mandela Bay energy- and maintenance costs savings of on average 548,000 Euros per year over 15 years. The value of the order is estimated at 2,5 million Euros and includes lamps, luminaries and storage.
– It’s an honor that Aura Light can help make the city safer and more secure while contributing to reduced environmental impact through our cost effective lighting solutions says Martin Malmros, CEO of Aura Light International AB.
The Nelson Mandela Bay metropolitan municipality, with over one million inhabitants, is a leading municipality in energy efficiency in South Africa. It is the only metropolitan municipality in the world that has been authorized to be named after Nelson Mandela and includes the City of Port Elizabeth and the towns Uitenhage and Despatch.
– We are pleased that Aura Light as a Swedish cleantech company reaches a larger spread globally. Aura Light’s sustainable lighting solutions are increasingly used by environmentally conscious municipalities, says Martin Malmros.
