The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber, which prides itself in linking local businesses with international markets, recently celebrated a new record with their issuing of Certificates of Origin (COO).
In August the NMBBC COO Department issued the most monthly certificates it has ever done over the past six years of recordings. This was up 22% from August 2016 certificates, and is testimony to a good month of exports out of Nelson Mandela Bay.
Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber Finance and Corporate Services Manager Yvette King said this is a rewarding record not only for exporters and the economy of the region, but also for the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber’s mandate of delivering value-added services to our members.
“The completion of our Certificates of Origin is approached with attentiveness and punctuality, and when we have the opportunity to make business operations more convenient for our members, we do not let it pass us by,” King said.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber signs Certificates of Origin for a number of countries such as the United States of America, Canada, The Middle East and GSP for Japan.
COO clients operate in different sectors and business spheres such as Automotive, Wool and Mohair as well as Hides and Skins. The biggest contributor to the August record was the Perishables/Fruits Sector.
“One of the reasons why we pride ourselves as an organisation is because of the feedback we receive from our clients, expressing satisfaction, complementing our quality service, turnover time as well as the willingness of our COO Clerk, Sakhi Madondile, to answer export related questions. Because we are a service orientated organisation, our clients are always our number one priority and we continuously try to go the extra mile for them,” King said.
The last monthly record for the Business Chamber’s COO Department was in June 2015 and it remains to be seen whether the region will this year break the annual record of certificates issued which was set in 2015.
