This week leading security company, Atlas, invited the chairpersons of the Port Elizabeth neighbourhood watches to the launch of its Neighbourhood Watch Support Desk.
“Atlas Security is on a mission to give back to the community, within our geographical area of service,” described Beverley Venter, Marketing Manager at Atlas.
She said that Atlas wishes to highlight the importance and strength of community neighbourhood watches. These are organized groups of civilians devoted to crime and vandalism prevention within a neighbourhood – one of the most effective ways to reduce crime and cut anti-social behaviour in areas. These groups work in conjunction with private security companies like Atlas and our local SAPS.
“Our role and responsibility to the neighbourhood watch groups (NHW) is to merely monitor their communication for any information pertinent to Atlas Security and/or its subscribers. In addition to this, Atlas Security provides the role of support to the patrollers who partake in these NHW programmes, in order to assist on the ground when and where necessary and possible,” described Venter.
“Where necessary, Atlas Security will contact the SAPS for all matters beyond the limitations of Atlas Security, in order for them to follow through with any required intervention and or further action.”
Atlas security is encouraging residents to join their neighbourhood watches and assist in the fight against crime.
“All you need to do is be the eyes and ears and report crime.”
