Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah does not believe that the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations title will be a straight fight between the continent’s big teams.
Appiah, whose team face Congo DR, Mali and Niger in the group phase, argues that any of the 16 finalists can go all the way.
“I have always said any team that has qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations is a very good team,” Appiah said ahead of the Black Stars’ trip to Port Elizabeth.
“So there is no way you can underrate anyone. In modern football, there is nothing good or bad,” he told the Ghana FA’s official website. “The most important thing is you prepare yourself very well for any game you play,” he added.
The Stars arrive in Port Elizabeth on Thursday, four days before their opening match at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. The Ghana team will leave their training camp in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday and will arrive in the South African capital Johannesburg later in the night.
Ghana will open their quest for a fifth title in the competition against Congo DR on Sunday, before games against Mali and Niger.
