YET another Port Elizabeth resident has fallen victim to vicious robbers following a spate of attacks in and around popular city parks.
Carol Dunn, an administrator at a doctor’s surgery in Park Drive opposite St George’s Park, was attacked and her car stolen on Thursday March 15 by two men who brazenly told her they had been “waiting” for her.
“One of the men was at the entrance [to the practice] and the other was hiding behind a wall,” Dunn told Weekend Post.
“The first one told me they had been watching me. He took all my personal belongings and threw me to the ground, while the other took my car keys. He came back and said the car wouldn’t start. I did the only thing I thought was right and told him about the alarm.
“I couldn’t see if they had weapons as they were wearing jackets,” said Dunn, adding she was “still angry” about the attack and had suffered bruises to her left side. She praised the Humewood police station for their quick response following the incident.
The station’s Captain Stanley Jarvis confirmed Dunn was attacked on her way to work. “She had parked her green Toyota Camry in Park Drive and was about to enter the building.”
Jarvis said Dunn was still “very traumatised” and that a case of robbery and theft of motor vehicle was being investigated.
