Three suspected gang members, Wendell Pietersen (29), Keith Bowkers (31) and Brendan Lucas ( 32), appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of attempted murder after they were arrested by the Gang Task Team on Saturday.
“It is alleged that on Friday, 25 March 2016 at about 20:48, the victims, aged 33 and 40 years old, were sitting in front of their house in Glendinning Street, in Shauderville, Port Elizabeth, when a minibus drove passed and stopped opposite the road,” said police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu.
“Several shots were fired from the minibus. The 40 year-old victim sustained gunshots to his arm and upper thigh while the 33 year-old sustained a gunshot wound to his left knee.”
A case of attempted murder was opened.
On Saturday, 9 April 2016, members from the Gang Task Team arrested the three suspects at their homes in Gelvandale.
They were remanded in custody until 13 April 2016.
