The AIDC Eastern Cape scooped Productivity SA’s award for “Productivity Improvement Excellence” in the Corporate Sector for 2013 at a function at the Beach Hotel in Port Elizabeth on Thursday 24 October 2013.
The AIDC, an agency of the ECDC, was named as finalist in the corporate section for Eastern Cape nominees following a rigorous adjudication process which included the visit of a productivity assessor to obtain evidence of success.
AIDC EC Supplier Development Manager, Lance Schultz said the award underlined the work being done by the AIDC to assist the automotive sector become more globally competitive.
“The award recognised our contribution to improving Productivity which is obviously a seal of approval for the AIDC Eastern Cape’s firm-level competitiveness programmes like Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM and Cleaner Production.”
“Some of the other winners were actually companies at which the AIDC Eastern Cape had implemented significant lean and other support interventions over the past 2 years, include Aveng, Feltex and SA Canopy.”
“The recognition is also a tribute to our team’s passion for continuous improvement and industry impact,” Schultz said.
Productivity SA’s mission is to improve productivity by advising, implementing, motivating and evaluating solutions aimed at South Africa’s competitiveness.
Since 1998 Productivity SA has been running productivity awards to give recognition to individuals, businesses and public sectors for productivity improvement initiatives.
Private and public sector organisations of all sizes, including institutions, professional bodies, associations, local authorities, individuals and registered Co-operatives were nominated for the awards.
