AMP’s main motivation was and is to ensure that the interests of it’s constituents are well served and are well represented. At no time was the AMP under the illusion that it could form the government of the country, but it could make an input in the democratic process of a country such as South Africa with it’s multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-religious and multi-lingual society. This fact of diversity was borne out by the fact that 19 parties had registered for the National and Provincial Assembly elections in 1994. The AMP had put up nearly 60 candidates for the National Assembly and 25 for the Provincial Assembly.
AMP believes in maximum powers to the people on the ground and regards the devolution powers from the centre to the provinces and communities as essential.
To promote morality, support religious freedom for all religious groups, abolishing poverty and hunger, improving the social environment in which the diverse beliefs, customs and languages are promoted. To promote free and fair trading conditions and to fight nepotism and corruption.
Better education facilities, health care, housing and free services to the poor and needy.
AMP will promote adult education to increase literacy in the society and to promote small and medium size business and start up entrepreneurs in business that are beneficial to the majority of the people.
To fight racism and bigotry at all levels and promote tolerance and understanding in this diverse society of ours.
