Eastern Province Cricket (EPC) has achieved another milestone, this time in the junior section where the EPC Under 13 team won the National Cricket Week held in Cape Town 7 – 12 December 2016.
The EP U13 team played six matches against Kwa Zulu Natal, Gauteng, Limpopo, Boland, Zimbabwe and Kwa Zulu Natal In-land, they won all six matches. This achievement follows immediately after the Senior Amateur Provincial Team who were crowned the T20 Africa Cup Champions.
Mark Williams, CEO of EPC and the Warriors said “This achievement is evidence that our focus on excellence both on and off the field is paying-off. Creating opportunities for our young cricketers is important in order to feed our cricket pipeline to produce future senior EP, Warriors and Proteas players. I would like to thank the parents, schools, administrators and supporters of our young cricketers for the time and effort they offer to our youngsters”
Most of cricketers who have participated in this age group will be placed into the EP Youth Cricket high performance program, part of the EPC pipeline program with the target that 80 – 90% of them will represent EP at Under 15 level.
President of EPC, Mr Donavan May is very excited about this achievement which augurs well for EPC. He said “It is a new dawn for EPC, it was no fluke that Cricket South Africa have accorded EPC the status of being the most improved member in the country. I have said in the past EPC is on the rise and indeed it on the rise.”
