I have this past Friday written to National Director of Public Prosecutions, Shaun Abrahams, requesting the disclosure of reasons as to why Danny Jordaan’s criminal pal Linda Mti has not yet been prosecuted for the SIU’s findings against him of corruption and accepting bribes.
I have also requested a prosecution timeline on the NPA’s open docket on Mti, with specific reference to proposed court dates and investigation findings.
The DA has fought Mti’s appointment to NMB’s Safety and Security Head since it was first proposed by the broken promises Mayor, Danny Jordaan.
With 80% of the Bay’s residents afraid to go out at night, Mayor Jordaan has now broken his promise to “take back the city” by giving the responsibility of Safety and Security to a convicted drunk driving criminal and alleged billion-rand fraudster.
This adds to the growing list of broken promises under Mayor Jordaan; R300 million water and electricity losses in 9 months, no delivery of a metro police service, no eradication of bucket toilets, no weekly refuse collection in all wards, no resolution to the Red Location Museum and Bayworld oceanarium stalemates, and frequent no-shows at important meetings.
The people of Nelson Mandela Bay need to be led by a government of integrity, and that is why the DA is committed to improving service delivery, stopping corruption and creating jobs to bring the change we need to move forward again.
The DA is ready to govern the Bay. By being honest and responsive, a DA-led government in Nelson Mandela Bay will make our Metro safe again, provide opportunity, deliver better services and work tirelessly to redress economic inequality.
