Regarding the revamped Swartkops Bridge yours truly thinks it will still need to be complemented by the Bluewater Bay bridge and the yet-to-be authorised Woolhope Memorial Bridge to prepare for our apparent Economic Expansion and thereby an increase in Traffic Volume.
In a nutshell, the eponymous Woolhope Memorial Bridge is a homage to the mostly Woolhope Secondary School pupils from Motherwell township, who passed away in a school transport accident on their way to Malabar in 1998.
That 18 year-old road network idea would connect Motherwell township to the Perseverance industrial area; flying-over the Swartkops River thereby shortening the travelling distance between these two areas.
After consultation, hopefully the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will approve that relevant name for that bridge include it in its 2016 / 2017 Infrastructural Budget. Although I am biased towards that particular name as Woolhope Secondary School’s 1996 Deputy Head Boy.
