The annual Toy Run® in Port Elizabeth, started in 1992 by Midnight Motorcycle Club, will celebrate its 21st anniversary when the next event takes place on Sunday 25 November 2012.
“Reaching a milestone of 21 years is a significant achievement for an initiative that started out on a very small scale and which has grown from strength to strength over the years. Midnight Motorcycle Club would not have been able to grow and sustain this event in the Metro without the partnership of Zwartkops Round Table 195, AlgoaFM, generous sponsors, motorcycle clubs and enthusiasts, the media and the public who care for the underprivileged children of our city.” Says chairman, Tony Halket.
This year is very special for the organising committee and with the support of sponsors, motorcyclists and the public, the 2012 PE Toy Run® is aiming to raise R210 000 in celebration of its 21 years of helping underprivileged children. “We are looking to the public and metro businesses to open up their hearts and wallets between now and the weekend of the event to “help us help the children.” pleads Ivan van Schalkwyk, convenor of the children’s party to be held on Saturday 24th November.
Four main prizes valued at R48 000 are up for grabs in the 2012 Toy Run® Raffle. Schools can get involved by selling tickets and raising funds for their schools in the process. Ticket sales enquiries can be made by contacting Andre 082 770 9495
