The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality are committing 67 minutes to clean the Grogro (KwaZakhele) area, renovate three dilapidated houses and to provide other services to the area. This important combined effort will be done on International Nelson Mandela Day.
On the day, Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs), Councillors and Officials from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will roll up their sleeves to remove refuse, unblock drains and generally extend a helping hand in the true spirit of Nelson Mandela who considered volunteerism as important to create social change. A new house, built by Coega Development Corporation, will be handed over to an elderly mother in the area.
This is done to acknowledge the selfless struggle fought by the late Tata Nelson ‘Rolihlahla’ Mandela who persistently fought for the freedom we enjoy today. Community members are encouraged to participate and recognize this day of humanitarian action in celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy.
Members of the media are invited to be part of the project and cover the event.
Take Action. Inspire Change. Make Every Day a Mandela Day
On 18 July at 09h00 participants will gather at the Ngene Sprots Field in Grogro.
