Following the huge success of last year’s inaugural race, the Standard Bank 5150 Nelson Mandela Bay returns to the Friendly City for a second time. Set to take place on 3 December 2017 at Kings Beach, online entries will open today, 21 July 2017 at 12h00.

Home to the Standard Bank IRONMAN African Championship, the Nelson Mandela Bay saw just over 600 athletes at the start of the debut race in 2016.

The 5150 triathlon (pronounced, fifty-one-fifty) takes the format of an Olympic distance triathlon featuring a 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run. Widely regarded as an ideal introduction distance into competitive triathlon, it is also a favourite amongst fans of the Port Elizabeth based Corporate Triathlon Challenge competitors. The Standard Bank 5150 Nelson Mandela Bay course starts with a 1.5km sea swim at Kings Beach, leading into a 40km out and back bike route on Marine Drive, ending the race with a 10km run along the beachfront.
