On 12 October the Longhair, the maternal unit, and I visited the Portuguese Club in Summerstrand for a special lunch prepared by Jose from Cubata and Shanna from Shanna’s – Paella.
These two spent most of the morning cooking their Paella over an open fire and elicited the help of two other strong men to ceremoniously carry the Paella Pan into the hall.
Hungry diners lined up to receive plates piled high with prawns, calamari, crayfish, chorizzo, rice, chicken and “could it have been rabbit”?
And the best part of the whole exercise? One hundred South African bucks per plate!
