This sailing regatta has become a veritable institution and attracts sailors from all over the Eastern and near Western Cape. Very few schools offer sailing as an organised sport so this regatta is a chance for individual schools to field a sailing team in an organised sailing regatta.
Held at the Redhouse Yacht Club over the weekend of 7 and 8 March teams are able to camp at the venue and enjoy sailing at a venue that is steeped in history and produced many sailors who went on to sail for South Africa in various disciplines.
The first race will be sailed not before 12:00 on Saturday 7 March and the entrance fee of R195.00 per competitors includes lunches and teas on both days. Tea? Yes, this is one of the traditions at Redhouse – sailors get tea and cake during races. Entries close on Sunday 1 March.
Prizes at the Interschools – for Junior and High Schools – are awarded to the following classes: Optimist, RS Tera, 0’9er, Dabchick, Mirror, Laser, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7, and Gypsy. An open class caters for other Dinghy classes. Class team trophies and individual prizes will be awarded.
Light meals and refreshments will be available to purchase for spectators during the regatta. Braai fires salads will be provided on Saturday night.
