The Port Elizabeth Car Terminal is continuing to break records despite the tough, volatile economic environment in South Africa. August 2019 was momentous month as the Car Terminal handled one of the biggest loads in one vessel, the Glovis Supreme vessel singly handled around 4 500 volumes.
It was the first time that one vessel handled has loaded so many units, the last vessel that broke a handling was in February 2019, Glovis Sonic with 34 81 export units.
The increase in volumes is being attributed ti increased demand by the market.
Comparing year on year, 8 217 volumes were handled in August 2018, versus 12 043 volumes which were handled in August 2019 thus Car Terminal has recorded a 31% growth in August 2019 compared to August 2018.
“We are thrilled about the new record which is a result of team work and safety. The recovery in domestic and external domestic and international has brought the demand of these positive units. The handing of the volume was also made possible by committed staff working at the Car terminal. “We are
