SEVERAL companies were recognised at the 2015 Health and Wellness Awards at the Feather Market Centre in Nelson Mandela Bay on Friday (subs: 23 October).
Wellness champion Charles Lewis from General Motors South Africa was perhaps the best embodiment of the tireless efforts of companies, volunteers and NGOs in securing a healthier Nelson Mandela Bay when in his acceptance speech he said that receiving an award was just the “cherry on top” for his community efforts.
The winner of the Health and Wellness Awards for a Large Enterprise was Volkswagen Group South Africa, in the Medium Enterprise category was Goodyear and in the Small Enterprise category the winner was Contitech Veyance.
General Motors South Africa’s Machiu Art Project was the overall winner in the CSI/ Community Projects category, and GMSA also received certificate commendations for two other CSI projects in this category.
In the category Wellness Innovation, Ford Motor Company of South Africa received a Special Award. The best Wellness Team award went to the Missionvale Physiotherapists Team and the Wellness Impact Award for an organisation went to the Sundays River Citrus Company’s Primary Production Department.
The Health and Wellness Awards were hosted on the last day of the Future of Health Summit, which featured an array of top international and local speakers including Professor Tim Noakes. The event was held in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber and sponsored by Old Mutual.
